I have had a niggling feeling the transmission is playing up and reading up on the various symptoms I have concluded (without crawling underneath) that the guido is shot and the gearbox mounting need changing, so on order and a job for November.
I get juddering on acceleration and a clunk when it changes but if I put the foot down it really banks like it is hitting under the gear-shift and it seems separate from the actual shifting in the box which is going up an down as it should. .

All comments by me should be taken in the right sprite, Jack Daniels is fine.

Watched a You Tube video on changing the guido and what a parlava!,,,, drop exhaust, remove heat shield, drop centre bearing so to have enough room to get t he guido out, really? maybe undoing the two nuts on the engine mounts and moving the engine forward a bit might have been easier, or is that not a good idea?
I have a new guido and a pair of mounts to go in but I don't have a lift.

no need to drop the exhaust, i undid the bolts for the centre bearing after removing the bolts from the guibo & dropped it down as far as it would go,Blanca wrote: ↑Wed Nov 10, 2021 1:39 pmWatched a You Tube video on changing the guido and what a parlava!,,,, drop exhaust, remove heat shield, drop centre bearing so to have enough room to get t he guido out, really? maybe undoing the two nuts on the engine mounts and moving the engine forward a bit might have been easier, or is that not a good idea?

also you can change the engine mounts without a lift by using am engine support beam
https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/laser-4 ... am-500-kg/
& a decent jack under the engine.

Answer one, Go where? selling as soon as I can. bodywork could use some work , small dents etc but if you want perfect paint you pay perfect prices.
Just had her in the garage and new Guibo, gearbox mounts and prop-shaft centre bearing fitted. for 60€ it was well worth not getting on a crawler and doing it myself. 1.5hrs, all done, the centre bearing was 15mm too narrow on the mounting bolts despite being for a 1985-1988 E320 so we had to cut the holes into slots, it fitted fine then.
The guibo was rock hard and beginning to break up and the centre was knackered and the mounts very compressed.
The drive home was much smoother and no bangs from underneath despite trying some hard acceleration changes.

Still happy with the repairs and smooth ride at last.
New inner wings arrived yesterday and fitted this morning. that will stop the 'chattering' at speed that is quite scary.

Yes, Thankfully the new inner wings are a very good fit, albeit they are cheap, 25€ the pair inc delivery in 5 days. Fleximax or some such name. but a good fit. Autodoc again.

Inner wings are the things the struts bolt on to under the bonnet.

language differences. Here the inner wing is the bit over the wheel or mudguards, the
support for the struts are just that, strut supports. the panel either side of the engine bay are referred as parts of the chassis. Spain is weird like that. i did of course mean mudguards. guardabarros. But ya know what I mean.

They're usually called underguards or wheel liners over here (in the UK). I have to remove and refit the damned things all the time, working in a bodyshop.
