Hi,
now that I have removed the cluster I can see why my rpm gauge, temperature and fuel savings didn’t work.
batteries are toast.
these are 1.2v 500mah
first question is where do I buy these batteries from?
second, how do I know it’s the batteries for sure and nothing else?
thank you
SI batteries

If there is something else, these will not be helping at all.
They look well buggered to me
I dont know where to buy them but do a search on here and I`m sure there are posts about changing them.
Mart.

It’s nearly 20 years since I replaced these but from memory they are just ordinary rechargeable nickel cadmium AA size batteries with tags. Tags are there just so that you can solder the batteries to the board. The new batteries these days may come with bigger capacity than 500mA.
From the picture the cells seems to have leaked so you will need to clean off any crud making sure you don’t damage any track. Usually some meths and toothbrush works quite well.
Later boards came with lithium battery but yours is the earlier nicad version.

Thank you
New batteries ordered from eBay.
I can only try and see if it works.
The rest of the board looks mint.

No question, those are buggered and the board will need some attention too. Not interchangeable with later batteries unfortunately., longer and 1.2V

All comments by me should be taken in the right sprite, Jack Daniels is fine.

You have to get the same battery type (Nicads) as the ones in there I believe. Having changed mine a few times and to save the hassle of removing the cluster / steering wheel each time I ran wiring from the cluster connections to a battery pack outside of the cluster so they are relocated under the dashboard .
