Hello.

One issue that has raised its head, or should I say lowered it, it the drivers side headlight.

Obviously the headlight adjuster has not worked for many years (understand that to be a common fault) however this has never effected the angle before.

Wondering if there’s a manual fix to keeping it in an MOT passable angle. The white screws don’t seem to do much…

Thanks

Kit

The white plastic adjusters are almost certainly rusted solid. They can be revived, take the units out and give them a bit of TLC and they'll be good to go again.

Sometimes the adjuster holder which twist fits into the headlamp cage can come out of its socket - makes the lamp flop about - off with the grills - out with the lamp units and apply loads of WD40 to the threads - the end of the threaded length is a ball which fits into the holder ( Nylon ) this can get baddly gooped up over the years - and yes you can buy all the parts to make the adjusters accurate and firm. Also the adjuster "handles" seperate from the threads so they turn but the thread doesn't .

Firstly thanks for all the replies, very useful to know.

I’m a very oem type of owner with a very oem type of car - fully restored low mileage late 316i auto, lovely to float around in…
