Since I had the starter replaced (new) , now and then the car would not start as in not even click !!
I could not narrow it down until it did it again last week and I checked to see if all terminals were tight and found one which was not so I nipped it up and it has started ever since !
It has even started after three days which has never happened cold or hot as it seemed the battery had drained but both I have for her are 100%.
This is the bottom wire in the pics (yellow and black) but I dont know what it does, any ideas please ?
Mart.
Strange starting

Black and yellow is the excitor wire from your ignition switch, so this is 100% what your problem was.

Itโs basically what tells the starter to move when you turn the key

Thought it was something down that way
When you know the usual suspects are new (battery and starter) then to find something like this out of the blue AND have it confirmed, it`s a massive boost.
Might even let her indoors drive it now

Well the car has been fine up until Monday at work and it would not start so the breakdown guy came out .It was the trigger wire which had broken so I fixed it properly when I got home.
Now the car has begun not to turn over intermitently so I am hoping its an issue on the other side of the ignition barrel where I think the plastic bit can ware .
I cant find the thread but it has been covered before so any help would be very very welcome.
My e46 has it`s rack broken and the wifes cars exhaust needs replacing and my garage guy is off next week.
My wife has left me and the dog has been run over and everyone of my friends have gone away too.
Cheers Mart.
