Hi all,
I've gone to reinstall the bonnet on my M50 swapped 318i and can't for the life of me understand how the torsion springs are supposed to be seated in order for the bonnet mechanism to fit back into it's resting place as the springs foul where the bolts should go. I recognise it's probably a simple mistake and please let me know if this has been posted before, a quick search pulled nothing up.
Cheers

when i refitted my bonnet the other week i made sure the plates (2nd pic) were flat, pit the bonnet in place the put the bolts back in loose & then made sure the back lined up the slowly did the bolts up & kept checking it all lined up properly.
went back on nice & easy.

if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.

For future reference, you should remove the hinge plate from the bonnet, not spit the hinge like that.
