Hey All,
Just getting me Cabby back on the road after a long while off the road...
I have an Auto hood and tried to open it after many years of it being closed...
I know the motors were working and it opened and closed properly as another Zoner came and helped me...
I changed the battery, but there doesn't seem to be any power going to the motor of the hood... Not a sound...
If anyone has a troubleshooting wiki or any tips... I would greatly welcome it...
Thanks
Ozzy

If anyone around London has any experience with servicing and trouble shooting an auto roof... Would really appreciate your time and would be happy to pay for it also.
Pm me thanks

Could you "help it" to start to open ??
After storage of my e46 roof over the winter, the manual even says give it a helping hand for the first time.
Mart.

Have tried that... There doesn't seem to be any noise coming from the motor at all.
Taking it to cayman autos in late July (earliest availability) £96 for a diagnostic check... Hopefully nothing too sinister...

Hi Ozzy,
There is a considerable amount of force required to move the roof, so perhaps the motor is struggling , but try the following to see whether the roof operates smoothly.
The following disengages the motor, but will allow you to see how freely the roof moves.
1. Put all your windows down.
2. Unlatch the roof from the interior.
3. Switch the engine off, so there is no power to anything - *this is to ensure the roof motors remain synchronised at this point.*
4. Open boot and remove the panel/cover over the roof motors.
5. Using the tool (from the tool kit - long handle thing, drop/disengage the main motor (it is the one to the right of the boot).
6. Disengage the horseshoe motor (this is in the centre part of the boot).
You have now disengaged both the motors, which will allow you to manually lift the horseshoe section. If you can get help with someone holding the horseshoe up, you will be able to push the roof in/out of its storage compartment.
If the roof moves freely (Check the lifting mech arms and pivots are also moving freely).
7. Put the roof back as it was before you disengaged the motors.
8. Reengage both the motors - the roof will be back to it's original starting position.
9. Start the engine and test to see if it will work now.
If it doesn't, then you need to repeat the above to have access to test the power supply to both the motors and the switches - main switch being on the left hand side of the storage compartment.
It's been a very long time since I worked on my roof, so I am going off my ageing memory...
Cheers.
