Hi all,

I need to replace the rear section (specifically the back box) of the exhaust on my 320i cabriolet. It looks like a 3 piece exhaust (so a rear box with shortish pipes in to it, then a separate twin pipe section joined to the central silencer). As it is a July 89 build car it has no Cat.

My question is: I have seen several exhausts listed for CAT equipped vehicles, but the rear section is listed as not being suitable - does anyone know why that is the case, it seems a bit odd to me?

BTW, the current set up is a twin pipe system all the way through.

Many thanks for any help/guidance offered.

Does your back box have very short pipes feeding it, so there is a joint by the rear axle, then twin long pipes to the centre box ( welded ) then the next joint in front of the centre box?

If this is the case you probably need to look at someone like Bosal Vegaz or Walker to find the right part, measure your old box to make sure it is compatible.

Hey, check out VEGAZ End Silencer in the AUTODOC app https://m.autodoc.de/vegaz/2318625

Hit the back button for the details.

Sounds like the same as my 1987 320i, only option is single or twin tailpipes. The 1st joint from the manifold to centre section has two types.
