Hi. With the ULEZ expansion coming in this October, I am considering selling my E30 cabriolet as I think it will get even less use, as I live right on the boundary and fancy something completely different after having had an E30 and E24 as my last 2 hobby cars.
The big dilemma is what to get instead. I would like a classic car still, but have some criteria it must meet:
-historic class (over 40 years old so ULEZ exempt)
-family friendly with rear seatbelts as I have 2 kids
-good spare parts supply available
-relatively cheap to run
-RHD
-budget of £10-20k
Any ideas? 2 I have had so far is a Triumph Stag or a classic beetle. At the moment I'm more drawn towards a Beetle - very different in all respects to an E30 I know!

Rear seatbelts are often retro fit at 40 plus years anyway but done right should be ok.
The Stag is one of the few cabriolet cars with 4 seats from that era but theres a couple of articles on line about the rear seat bulkhead not being strong enough for rear seat belts to be effective. This is the reason I went e30 instead of Stag, that and a nice one was more than I was looking to spend. My other car is a '76 Spitfire and spares availability is way better than e30 and way way cheaper.
1981 will get you a MK1 golf cabriolet. Much nicer than a Beetle

Well my eldest E30 turns 40 in a couple of years so will likely be 40 something when it gets back on the road. I have a Landy and Dolly Sprint that are already there.
Stick 1981 and 20K into the search on Car and Classics, some interesting stuff there. Old Volvo I'd be happy to cart the brood around in (bit of a trek to get it though) some old Rovers, Fords and wacky Americana that I recon would be an experience to own
Closer to home what about an E21? Maybe an E12 or early E28?
How about a 380SL? they are in budget and have belts in the back?
Lots out there
