Hi,
I am looking for a fuel pressure regulator for my BMW E30 320i - can I just fit any fuel pressure regulator or does it have to be OEM.
Thanks,
Fuel Pressure Regulator

Not that particular one though - it's 3.0 bar.steve_k wrote: ↑Wed Apr 21, 2021 6:13 pmyou can get one from autodoc.

AFAIK, all M20B20 engines use a 2.5 bar regulator.
Your existing one looks a bit manky on the outside, but that shouldn't affect its operation, unless it's rusted right through. What makes you think it needs replacing?

That's not actually the FPR pictured, it's the fuel damper which sits in the supply line near the external fuel pump. I believe you can remove it without issue and just replace with a suitable bit of hose or you can shell out for a new one (not the part linked above though!)

Explains why it's in such a state, and yes, it can be discarded and replaced by hose with no noticeable effect, as BMW did at some point.

Well, the pipe was split and we believed that to be the leaking culprit, only to find that we we connected the FPR and left it hanging (to see what it did) there was a pinhole leak from it and was squirting fuel!Brianmoooore wrote: ↑Wed Apr 21, 2021 10:09 pmNot that particular one though - it's 3.0 bar.steve_k wrote: ↑Wed Apr 21, 2021 6:13 pmyou can get one from autodoc.

This is NOT a fuel pressure regulator. The FPR looks somewhat similar, and sits on top of the front of the engine.
The device you have is no longer required, and was deleted by BMW after a few years. Just bypass it with high pressure fuel hose.

This is her!
She doesn't start at the moment, only cranks, so will hopefully find the solution sometime soon.
Currently figured the fuel system is working okay, now onto other places!
