Hey zone,
Replaced rocker cover gasket cause of a leak (and resprayed the cover while was at it), put it all back on and now keeps choking & cutting out. Any ideas? On a m40.
Cheers!

Hey mate
You've checked all the HT leads are back in their correct places and fully pushed in tight?

There are three possibilities.
1) As suggested above, it's nothing to do with replacing the rocker gasket, and is something you've disturbed accidently elsewhere while working.
2) You've refitted the rocker cover incorrectly and left a significant air leak
3) The rocker cover had a bad air leak before you started, which you've now fixed, but someone previously has bodged things to compensate for it, possibly by playing with the AFM.
(There's one other possibility, if you disconnected the battery while working) The ECU has simply lost it's idle speed setting, which it will learn again after a few miles of normal driving.

Tried all the above and she lives, made it round the block no issues so Iโm gonna say itโs fixed, thinking gasket potentially not sitting well where it arches. Thanks for your help guys as always
