Hello zoners ,
I am in the process of building a m20b9 stroker
Build:
Erling oem head gasket
Stock headbolts
Stock rods
M52b28 crankshaft
2.9 mahle ultimate stroker pistons
Arp rod bolts
Hd rockers
272/272 schrick camshaft
Rhd itbs
New custom harness
Link g4x ecu
The engine is almost finished(head not bolted to the block) and i hope for 200 -210 whp
I came through some projects where they use electric turbos that effectivly have 0.25 bar of boost(i know that e turbos technology is something new).
In the future( 6-12 moths) I may want to use someting similar for my project.
My question that is bothering me is if i need arp head bolts and new performance headgasket for that application(my current cr 10:1)
Looking forward for your comments and please dont judge why i am not spending 600 euros for the upgrades, i want to know the limits and if i have to i will upgrade.
Thank you

fingers crossed you can attain the power figures your chasing.

i have driven the car but its not yet finished. it is extremely fast(maybe i haven't driven fast cars:)..it was not holding the torque (maybe worn clutch) so i upgraded to rhd flywheel and MAX CLUTCH stage 2 ( Torque Capacity: 245 lb-ft ,HP Rating: 260 HP)...for the moment it is at the exhaust shop . it will be from headers to y pipe (80-85cm ( according to reggid if the y pipe would be at 1.6 m it would have more torque but couldn't bother to change the initial plans ) and then 35cm muffler and then single 2.5' inch to mufler with 2 tips, all stainless steel. l m curious for the end result and i hope it not too loud.
i will have it dyno in about 1 moth and i will have 2 maps. 1 normal and 1 with water/methanol injection.
curious for the results since all m20 without porting (according to internet) will have a limit usually at 250hp. lets see how this will go:).

Wow! Looks like a serious M20 you’ve built there. Would love to hear a sound clip of that exhaust when its all setup

1) original recaros that i need to reupholister
2) install azev 17s 10j back and 8.5j front that i currently own
3) setup the aem methanol kit
4) find a way to correct toe/camber especially at the back.. i have 16s 7j compomotive. currently 1st & 2nd with hard acceleration
is causing traction issues.

Hello m8 thank you,
I live in cyprus (small island in meditteranian sea). The dyno is located near the sea level.
The dyno measures whp and does not make any corrections to show the bhp.
Just before the dyno with only road tuning i had race with a stock s2000(with out cat and aftermarket filter) year 2006. I was with 3rd gear 3k rpm and he was like 6k rpm . I was able to "win" with almost 1 car difference.. the s2000 did right after me 2 dyno runs and the dyno showed 210whp and 209whp.. which is very consistend with what i have read over the internet about stock hondas from 2004 and onwards.
That made me think that the dyno is accurate. I have many photos of the dyno... the first run was like 224 whp and we manage to get it to 234 whp. My tuner told me that the car is limiting its power due to knock between 4k rpm to 5.5k rpms and also cylinder 1 and 5 is knocking earlier than others . Maybe its the design ? Dont know!.. i have draggy and in the days to come we will do some runs to check times.

also my tuner told me that after 6k rpm the graph shows some ups and downs and the this is due to his effort to eliminate knock. he did it intentionally so as to be on safe side. he explained me that if we use the methanol kit (only if the it is activated) we may gain some degrees of timing at that area. We also have knock sensor installed permanently at the engine and this is controlled via link g4x ecu so as to be on the safe side.

fair enough, just every other dyno i saw out of Europe was a flywheel number and dynojets in the US typically make 270 Nm @ wheels and 200-215rwhp with this spec

I was surpriced as well.. most builds i saw they dont use like my build :
1) coil per cylinder
2) Camshaft sensor
3) 100 octane fuel
Do the above make any difference for hp? Whats your opinion on that?( sorry for my bad english)
Also i came accross with this number on the dyno results .. does this have any meaning? Gear rario 48.09

One set back here , the guibo broke and destroyed the 02 sensor. the O2 sensor wires got into the gear box shaft and the seal destroyed and lost some gear box oil.

We also tried to do some times but the car doesn't have traction 1st & 2nd gear (probably not good tires).
So we switch to some semislicks and increase the height back to correct camber, just for the test. However we did not manage to get some good grip in 1st gear and partly in second. we are using 3.73 lsd.
Most probably we will be installing abs ring to the front wheel and use speed sensor in order to setup ground speed based launch control.

The rubber coupling failed because you fitted it incorrectly, there is only 2 ways to fit them, you have also fitted your new coupling the wrong way, the thicker section is to take up the drive between box and prop, there are also arrows on the sides that should be pointing towards the flange
