Good question.
As an "old" man myself I am not sure why younger drivers are so interested.
I guess young drivers see it as a cheapish route into rear wheel drive drifting ?
For cheap drift cars most people use mx5s or e36/46s and weld the differential.
I appreciate you being 22 but you weren't around when the E30 was pretty much the only car used for drifting in the late 90's and the 2000's. This is the main reason that E30's are becoming scarce as they built nearly 2.5 million of them there were soooo many around for very little money. People bought one for £500 on a Friday and drifted them until they broke. Then bought another.

Them's the facts. The E36 and E46 may be the cheap drift car of choice currently but it's for exactly the same reasons as the E30 was, and when these cars start to become fewer in numbers we'll be rinsing and repeating for another generation.

Yeah exactly because E30's are no longer cheap haha so they use what is cheap now.

The point I was trying to make is that young people with E30s now don't use them for drifting. (I have been taking mine out in the snow recently though!!)

I love the fact that younger people are appreciating the E30 as cars these days and not just a tool for drifting! A rear wheel drive car is always good fun to drive, especially in the snow!

All the people that I've met with E30s absolutely love them and most aren't daily driven but still used and worked on!!

Some are getting good money from photo or video shoots which is cool to see.

I'm always surprised at how many positive comments I get about the car , a fair sprinkling from youngsters of whom weren't born at the cars height of popularity along with a few requests to sell . Older generation who have memories of either owning or aspiring to own one and always a topic to while away a few moments especially at petrol stations.

the e30 was always a car to aspire to back in the 80's, & in the 90's it was still a very popular car though for a while it did drop a bit in the late 90's/early 00's & thankfully that time has thinned the herd a fair bit,

the way i see it the e30 is a more capable car than the likes f a mk2 escort, but to look at current prices they are starting to head in the same direction mk2 escorts are going,

there seems to be quite a fair few of the younger generation (20's+) getting into ownership now which can only be a good thing,

over the 14yr's ive owned my sport i've had more knocks n the door about selling than i care to think about, far more convo's about them at petrol stations than i dare think about.
if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.
getting oral sex off an ugly person is like rock climbing.....don't look down ;)

I was reminded of the above thread when I saw the below article. Interestingly the first photo is of an E30 interior albeit LHD and talking about aircon.
