Too smooth, is there such a thing? Fuel gauge too small?

After the crash rebuild I did a little tuning and now she has settled down she is so smooth I am waiting for something to go wrong, cruises at 120KPH all day at about 2,500rpm. kick-down is awesome, fuel consumption improved to 10L/100 from 12/100 and starting instantly. Tick over still a little lumpy but not bad, hunting a touch.

It was the first time I filled right up a couple of days ago with 50 Litres from warning light on , (came into a bit of cash) and the gauge went right over past the 55 mark, should I change it? (Mototronic)

What I do not get is the difference between what I have on my car and what is on the Wiki. I have a sender in the right side of the tank but with two pipes and a fuel pump under the car in front of the left rear wheel with filter below the servo. under the bonnet. So I am not sure if it is a 55 Litter tank. I think it is a 55Litre tank as I put 50Litres in it from reserve and it is full which means the gauge or the sender is faulty

In the spec it says "Additional export tank filling" , what ever that means.

I have the "long range " tank fitted and it doesn’t register on the gauge. When the normal tank is full the gauge reads full then the additional tank fills. The gauge doesn’t move until the additional tank fuel is used up. You can convince yourself for a while that you’re getting amazing mpg cos the needle doesn’t move. Unfortunately reality eventually kicks in.

Good to hear it's running well.

"Additional export tank filling" means they put some extra fuel in the (standard) tank because it might be going to driven a bit further before delivery.

My mistake I thought you were on about the additional 15 ltr tank mounted above the standard one.

If there's nothing under the LH tank hatch, under the rear seat, then you have a 55 litre tank. The larger tank has a level sender there as well.
There are two versions of the fuel gauge - one for each size tank. If you had the wrong one it would read it would still read full when the tank is full, but would still read half when the tank is empty.

So I have a 55L tank and a 55L gauge. I wasn't sure if it was the sender or the gauge that is wonky.

When I fill right up the gauge reads 3mm past full (55L) and when the reserve light comes on I still have 10L left.

Last full fill was 50L and gauge was in the red for 30 Kilometres so looks like the needle is out.
