The fault I’ve sorted is that it was running on 5 badly for half an hour and then run on 5 and half for the rest of the time, anyway tracked it down to no.5 plug lead corroded.Anyway for those who don’t know about my 10 year old fault, driving down a road at 40/50/60 and roll off the throttle down to 1500/2000 rpm and the car kangaroos, also if the engine is reved up the revs drop and it nearly stalls but it never has.Over the years I’ve changed a lot of things but with no luck.

I have virtually the same problem, I ease off the throttle and the car sort of wants to stall but doesn't and the engine seems to run unevenly, foot down and she's fine with no hesitation.

Couple of questions, is yours a 320i, and does yours happen around the same revs.

My M40 powered car did that until I raised the idle (tickover?) speed a little.

Can you change the idle speed on an M20?
