speedo not working, trip and mileometer ok, everything else ok. Have removed instrument panel and checked solder for dry joints and continuity of printed circiut as best I can any ideas please on a 1989 E30 318i

Check the connection to the sensor at the differential , sometimes the connections become brittle and break .
