I’m changing my leads for a set I’ve had for a while. number 6 lead has a round electrical terminal with a wire Coming off of it ,I’m not sure what it does but it looks like I need to pass the new through it, which means one end of the lead needs to be taken off, my question is which end and how.

Not your fault at all, but I followed the vid and Ended up snapping the lead.I managed to separate the rubber cap from the electrical connector and tryed to twist and pull the cap off and as he shows,it wouldn’t come off for love nor money and ended up pulling the lead out of the connector.

,I’m not sure what it does
It's an early type of cam position sensor. Without its signal, the engine has no idea which of each pair of cylinders is starting its firing stroke, and which is starting its inlet stroke, so fires both injectors instead of the appropriate one.

Likely you will need to get a drill bit similar width of the lead, and by hand, drill out the centre of the sensor hole at the end of the lead. Often the new leads are a bit fatter.

Had to do this exact thing the other week when bought a pack of 6 new leads

All the time I worked for BMW (25 years) E30 plug leads come in kit form, a roll of plug lead, seven distributor cap ends, six plug cap ends, and a coil connecter plus fourteen connecters that you crimp on once the leads are cut to length, the sensor is slid on before fitting the end cap.

I’m looking to get a new set for my 325i. I’ve noticed the lengths of the leads is different depending on the brand. Does this make a difference? I did read once that length is quite important.
