Hello gents,
New to BMWs, but I've done some tinkering with other cars. We recently purchased a 325e with the goal of making it a track car. The goal is to keep it authentic with BMW parts. Thinking of building an i engine and then adding a turbo. The steering wheel is on the wrong side for you lot, but the car is pretty solid. Not much rust at all. Lots of fun to drive.
This is a father/son project, with the roles pretty well sorted. I get to pay for everything and my son is the wrench. We'll have to see who gets the seat time at the track. Neither of us share well there.
Looking forward to a lot of good information from you folks. Looks like a lot of wisdom in this forum.

Yup, I'm in the states. Thanks for the welcome.
The 325e is a detuned 325 to make is more fuel efficient; i.e., they took all the fun out of the car.
We aim to get back the fun. I was hoping it was just some minor modifications to get the power back, but it looks like the best thing to do is get a 325i engine and start from there. I'm in the process of sourcing that now. The wiki on building an engine was immensely helpful on deciding how to get there.
Take care. Sure I'll be meeting you all again in the technical forums. I have loads of questions.

Except that it's a 327!

Can be made to go very well.
