Hey zone,
Slid out the SI board the other day and this little three prong piece fell out (almost as if it was already loose), but not sure where it’s from. Anyone recognise it & what it does? Has three prongs and little switch on top.
Cheers!
Piece fell out SI board... any ideas?

It looks like a small change over slide switch, but there' nothing like that on an E30 SI board or inside the cluster in general.
A BMW supplied replacement later board, with non rechargeable batteries, has a DIP changeover switch with a removeable jumper link to preserve the batteries before it's fitted, but your older board doesn't have, or need, a switch, since the batteries are rechargeable.
The batteries fitted aren't original, so my guess is that whoever fitted the batteries had an untidy workbench, with an old slide switch on it, which got caught up in the board while he was soldering.

Hi Brian, ah nice one thanks, that makes sense. My tacho not currently working, but doubt that little switch has anything to do with it right? Tempted to change out the batteries, they look alright but probably worth a go. Any other ideas worth checking? Much appreciated!Brianmoooore wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 10:56 pmIt looks like a small change over slide switch, but there' nothing like that on an E30 SI board or inside the cluster in general.
