Was the trunk lid trim (part 51491916246) standard spec?

Hard to find in good condition, usually damaged on the thin section, my car should have one but I cant stomach the price for something that nobody is really going to see

I know they came on late SE edition cars but other models I cant comfirm

Around EUR260 8O Don't think I'll get one, but I was interested because I didn't even notice I was missing anything until I stumbled across the RealOEM diagram. I don't think I've ever seen an E30 in real life with the trim.

Unless your car is a SE, then you're not missing anything.

Always considered it a bit odd that this part wasn't fitted to all E30s, considering how well the rest of the boot is trimmed out. It's an area that's on show to the world every time the boot is opened, and without the panel it detracts from the whole image of quality that should exude from these cars.

I was thinking of putting sound deadening metrial on the trunk lid but I guess this won't be too bad.

Sort off, locked away in a garage complex a few minutes from home.

I bought mine on a wim a few years back, will take a photo tomorrow as I need to refit the rear bumper rubber.

I also noticed that. I'm going to stick with one strut in mine - the weight reduction helps keep my 0-60 time below a minute.

Gotta say they do look smart, never taken much notice of the inside of the boot lid before.
Did this come with the car & two gas struts! Not seen that before.

Car came with spoiler on the boot lid and 2 struts...also listed on real oem as two struts fitted...boot won't stay up with one anyway...even with correct new struts in place, its the extra wright of that inner cover.

Mine was "tatty" with the cracks in the usual places so I painted it with a vinyl spray.

I see you're missing the plastic cable guide for the horseshoe release.

You mean the cable when you open the horseshoe that then shuts the boot lid and vice versa, ;o))

Later cabriolets were fitted with two struts because the single strut pushed the boot up on that side when it was closed and messed up the shut lines.

Bloody Hawkeye!!
You are absolutely correct........I have never noticed that before. Had a look this afternoon, if it ever had one I have never seen it, & am at a loss to know why.
I’m wondering if it’s ‘pulled through’ behind the trim panel, I’ll take it off to investigate.
I’ve also looked on RealOem & cannot identify the part. Would you please take a close-up picture for me.
Cheers

Kind of........it’s a crude interlock which stops the horse-shoe from opening if the boot lid is raised, as they would hit each other.

Do these boot lid trim panels weigh a lot?

If the boot is open and you open the horseshoe it drags the boot lid down and if the horse shoe is up and you open the bootlid it closes it.

I need to pop to Screwfix tomorrow and if it's not raining will take the E30 out so will take a photo, I also used the same paint on the under dash panel, it came out ace.

I can confirm that my cabriolet has this exact problem - it's mildly annoying.
