What’s the best adhesive to use,to put It back on.

Halfords sell one and its fine to glue the metal plate back on.

I had the same issue and tried to glue it back on using the special sticky pads sold by Halfords etc. Nothing worked for more than a week or so in the heat of the summer. Solution is to take it to a windscreen repair place and they do the job properly for a few quid.

My daughters Opel had the same issue - I mixed a blob of Super Steel - been on there for a year now - 8)

Update, I used 2 pack Gorilla glue, it seems of done the trick.

Using the wrong glue can cause the screen to crack at extreme temperatures. The adhesive needs to have just enough 'give' to allow for expansion.
That's why Halfords (and others) sell a special glue for the job.
