E30 cabby floor mats
Moderator: martauto
Hi All
Need a new set of floor mats to go in to my J reg e30 convertible, just wanted opinions on OEM or not and due to scarcity of Oem e30 ones would you consider mats from an e46 or e82/88.
If anyone has pics of theirs and how it looks would really help me to decide...
Looking for a Black set
Thanks
Ozzy

You can't get new mats anymore - the E82 ones apparently fit pretty well. I ordered a set of reproduction mats from Germany which were excellent fit and quality. These guys - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Velours-floo ... Swi8VZQNkD

They're great quality - I have brand new OEM mats in my E36 and F31 and the quality isn't on par.

About a year ago I bought a set of 20 quid matts for the cabby which are made from some kind of rough nylon brillo pad type of stuff. They do protect the original carpet but have terrible fit and are pretty impossible to clean, as well as looking really horrible after a few months.
I have a set of matts now from the OP link which cost 70 quid but are a really great fit with good fixings for the drivers matt ( important) and they look and feel really good...well worth it I'd say.

I got a set from http://www.vz-lengenfeld.de/autoteppiche.html they are good but not as great as the originals, my son was dealing with them and I sent them my old mats so they could make a form for them.

Looking at Paul’s peddles, I’m thinking he drives in his silk slippers! So no need for a heel pad.
Do you also wear a smoking jacket & cravat whilst driving on your long trips Paul?

You can always change the fixings. Mats usually come with fixings so no problem.

BRILLIANT !!
That's such a cool shot of Terry Thomas ...his son Cushen is a mate of mine.
The fittings for the carpet are oval...so you are good to go...mine are round for some reason...
Nothing wrong with silk slippers...they match my mrs underwear

Very good guys!
I emailed the company yesterday about the round/oval fixing holes, they have already replied to me saying they will produce my mats with the oval fixings.
Very impressive.

I felt the pressure and fitted the oblong twist and lock carpet retaining clips - much better and very neat.

My maternal grandparents were never known for their love of embracing cutting edge technology, and yes, I remember their carthorse, Rose, along with the cart and various other implements that it pulled, and will have ridden in that cart on many occasions, but never actually drove it solo.Satan wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 12:05 pmYep but your first vehicle was a horse drawn cart I heard ;o))))))))Brianmoooore wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 2:06 pmIt's the open back driving gloves I miss.
