Front Eibach Springs too high?
Moderator: martauto
Just replaced my springs and shocks with Eibach Pro Kits and Bilstein B8s. The rear has dropped nicely and it rides really great but the front springs appear higher than before for some reason? Is this normal and they'll just take a bit of time to 'settle' or have I totally ballsed something up?

I actually don't know but mine is a Straight 6 so if anything it should be too low if it was wrong?Cloggy Saint wrote: ↑Mon Sep 07, 2020 5:46 pmThey do take a while to settle but the front does look very high! Springs have different rates for 4 or 6 pots, are you sure you have the correct ones?

Just had a thought that possibly the wishbone bush which attaches to the subframe could be pulling it down as I didn't adjust it. But that would mean that the twisting force of the bush would be enough to pull the entire strut down which doesn't seem right?
It is a long time since I put the Koni's on mine, but it did not do that. Any settling tends to be similar both ends.
Something wrong there but I'm scratching my head to think what.
Are the springs seated properly?
Were they new? if so what was the part number on the springs or box (not the order) A lot of BMW springs have the same diameter and would fit.
If it helps I have a new B12 kit in the back of the garage I can measure if needed
I have got the B8s out of the kit to hand but the Eibachs are a bit buried, I'll try to get a tape on them tomorrow

My car sits exactly like this. It has mtech suspension from the factory as an option but god knows what’s in it now. Spring manufacturers will say “does not fit mtech” and I don’t know why. If your car had it from factory, the problem might be that.TGNelson wrote: ↑Mon Sep 07, 2020 4:26 pmJust replaced my springs and shocks with Eibach Pro Kits and Bilstein B8s. Mine looks identical and I hate it
Sorry for the time getting back to you, been a bit more difficult than expected.
Right.................. measured end of spring to end of spring it is around 278mm uncompressed
It does not say BMW 07/05 mine look like this:
These are genuine Eibach Pro from the Bilstein B12 kit that comes with B8 dampers. They are the correct springs for the heavier M20 865kg front axle load.
I would guess yours are not correct at 315mm and probably not Eibach unless it says so on them. Where did you get them from? Did you buy them new?

The mtech springs as used on the Sport are shorterJudas wrote: ↑Wed Sep 09, 2020 12:52 am

Just a thought, have you checked that the foam bump stops aren’t too tall for the new springs? Not sure if the set comes with new ones. When I changed for lower springs, the oem sized stops were too tall. Only applied to the front.
Previous cars:
E46, E90x2, F31
Current cars:
F31 340i, F21, E30

The B8s are designed for lower springs and come with the correct height bump stops. Can't see the bump stop affecting the ride height though unless they were doubled up.
The front springs he has are 37mm longer than the springs he should have and that is what it looks like from the photograph.
