Afternoon all,

A quick one for you. I'm looking at getting a 4 door E30, which will be my daily with 2 little munchkins in the back (4 year old and a 3 month old) for a very short 3 mile nursery round trip every morning. I wanted to ask the following:

- Can child seats fit comfortably in the back of a 4 door? And not require your kid to be folded in half in the process?

- I'm 6ft 3, and like to have the seat back far enough for my beanpole legs. Any of you out there manage to do this successfully with a car seat behind?

- If this isn't possible, I'll still be getting one, but may have to get rid of the kids. Any takers let me know.

Cheers!

I have a child seat in a convertible for my seven year old, it's tight but possible but I'm 5'10". If you zoom in you can get an idea. How far do the little ones legs hang over their seats? Guessing 3 month old is in a rear facing?
No idea if the leg room is any different in a cab but someone will be along soon to confirm. It's certainly narrower to allow for the hood.

I still have to fix my "ISO FIX" into the Baur , now that she is up and going this is the right time to do it with a new ish grand kid here.
I`ts a retro fit from a Ford car and is very strong indeed.
Two big bolts fasten on the rail to the rear bulkhead and thats all there is to it.
P{ics when I`m on a more "easy" shift.

Mart.

Yes it is very very strong !!
Only the E46 cab left now.
Just got too old.

I have a forward-facing child seat in my convertible - it fits fine, but it's difficult to get the roof down because the seat has a massive headrest. I have the driver seat back as far as it'll go - if the child seat was on the driver side it'd be an issue.

I ran a 4 door with my 2 eldest kids in child seats for about 4-5 years, between the ages of newborn and 6 yrs, the baby carry seat would go in the front due to space

I got a Touring but only one child. I’m 6 2” and kids chair was behind the passenger seat for my girls leg room, she’s tall for her age, 9 now so no seat.

That's all really helpful, thanks guys. I think the way forward will be having older one behind me, as they're in a much more slimline child seat. 3 month old in rear facing takes up loads of room so she'll go behind the moved forward passenger seat.

Pretty confident they'll fit OK. If not, the Mrs will potentially run me over in my own car, so that's something to look forward to.

Had three kids in the back of my touring - baby seat facing backwards, a seven year old and a ten year old. Middle seat belt modified to an inertia lap and diagonal, like the outer two. No shortage of room, and did many thousands of miles all over western Europe for the next six years, when it went down to a thirteen year old and a six year old in the back.
