My speedo has stopped working, the mileage and trip meters are both working could the speedo sensor or the wiring connector still be at fault

Did you read that thread?
Personally I would
Check the wires for obvious breaks around the diff
Check the diff output signal, first at the diff then at the back of the dash.
If the signal is getting to the plug at the back of the dash OK then check the instrument cluster for solder issues

If the odometer and trip are still working, the problem is confined to part of the speedo assembly itself. Nothing wrong with the diff. sender, the plug or the wiring.
