Yep - although the 2door also is nice, I think sometimes the proportions look wrong. Something about the 4door that just look right.Satan wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 8:37 amA more door?BristolE30 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 9:08 pmPerfect if it was a sedanah wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 6:29 pmApart from that AA badge

Agree - the AA badge looks like a nose ring.
Still, fantastic looking car - wish mine was that fresh...
And a 325i...
And had 15's...
Always want what you haven't got.

Badly let down by it’s MOT history, multiple FAILS & Advisories as long as my arm.
Why do owners take their cars for MOT & it’s failed for such simple things as.....hazard warning lights not working, side repeater not working, insufficient water to wash screen. etc etc.
This to me speaks VOLUMES about how a car has been looked after......not how shiny it is.
Finally the exhaust (back box) looks suspect.

Well, no, it's not just you because you're replying to minesapint who made the point in the first place
What's up with it? I can't make out anything obvious from the pics.

Okay. The back box is overlong, the tailpipes are overlong, almost projecting beyond the rear bumper.Cloggy Saint wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 12:19 ammartauto wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 11:33 pmIt`s the simple but obvious stuff which shouts out ""BEWARE""minesapint wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 8:37 pmBadly let down by it’s MOT history, multiple FAILS & Advisories as long as my arm.

They should be in-line (on the same plane) with the back box. These kick down at an angle. Compare with mine which is OEM. The tailpipes should come straight out from the back box. These are offset to the left. Compare to mine. It just doesn’t look right does it Cloggy? That’s because it ain’t!

That is because they are both wrong !! The original exhaust came out at an angle, like this. Mine did when newminesapint wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 10:31 pmIt just doesn’t look right does it Cloggy? That’s because it ain’t!
Doesn't matter on a PFL as there is no bodywork around the exhaust, but on a FL there is a cutout for the tailpipe.
When the fashion changed for straight pipes it was not a problem on the PFL but for the FL they had to offset the tailpipes in the back box or do that 'chicane' so they came out of the cutout straight.
The only thing they have done is used a FL back box with fashionable straight pipes made for a saloon on a cab which has the PFL rear valance. The exhaust would look fine on any 1990 car other than a cab

Strange, every OEM exhaust I bought for the chromie was offset and it is what you still get today when you buy an OEM exhaust.minesapint wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2020 1:40 pmBut still stand-by what I said....................as you know I’ve had mine from brand new.

It is what happens when you have owned your E30 for over 30 years
(Doesn't help when you need exhausts for a FL and PFL at the price they are today)
If you can't nerd about E30s on here where can you. If too many people "wake up" and bugger off then what is the point of the place?? where is the discussion?

If it has got away without welding and spraying it is doing well, I don’t think it is realistic to expect these to have got this far without some neglect, especially when prices were lower than maintenance costs.
MOT history is no surprise, In my experience cabs were sometimes driven by people more interested in image than the upkeep and mechanics ………………(OK I’ll get my coat)
Not a colour of paint or interior I would choose but I agree with you the combination does look stunning
But then someone will buy it and the next one will be more, it must keep you awake at night as it is even happening with BAURs
It used to be a really good crowd in the days of the Esprit, don’t really care for the type that generally drive them now
I still stand by what I said,
1986 cabriolet brochure
IMHO a chromie 6-pot with straight exhausts looks wrong
