MY HIGH PRESSURE FUEL HOSES INLET AND OUTLET ARE CRACKED AND LEAKING PETROL. MY MECHANIC SAID I NEED TO CHANGE THESE. DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHERE I CAN GET THESE FROM AND DOES THE HOSE CHANGE FROM THE THE TANK OR DOES A SECTION NEED TO BE CUT AND NEW PIPE ATTACHED TO A OLD PIPE AT ONE POINT? ANY HELP WILL BE GREAT

It's just ordinary 8mm -13mm high pressure fuel hose, available from any motor factors. You haven't said which model you have, but if it's six pot, there's just the two long ones under the bonnet, or if it's four pot, there's a couple of very short ones under the inlet manifold as well.
There are more short lengths of the same hose around the fuel pump and in front of the left rear wheel arch, but it's the ones under the bonnet that deteriorate the most, because of the hostile conditions there.

Its a 325i cab, 6 pot. From the intake and outlet how far do these pipes run? Do i just change the cracked bit or better to change the whole run, how far is the run and quite hard to change? I see it going underneath the engine but want to know how far it goes in and how much i should change

The hoses run from steel pipes in the back LH corner of the engine bay and go to the fuel rail and fuel pressure regulator near the top of the engine on the LH side. All reasonably accessible and visible, although the back connections would be easiest to do from underneath the car.
Off the top of my head, I'd say 2m of hose would be enough, with a small amount left over. The hose clips BMW use are good quality, but on small ones like these, it's fairly easy to strip the threads, so it may be a good idea to get replacement ones as well as new hose, if you don't want the car off the road for longer than necessary.
Make sure you don't get the new hoses crossed over. Either make sure you know which connects to which, or change one at a time.

I very very occasionally get a whiff of fresh fuel when walking around the outside of my car after it’s been running. Often I’ll go back to the spot I smelt and try to see if I can smell anymore but it’ll be gone.Brianmoooore wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 11:23 pmThe hoses run from steel pipes in the back LH corner of the engine bay and go to the fuel rail and fuel pressure regulator near the top of the engine on the LH side. Is any fuel smell a leak or could it just be vapour from somewhere? Usually by the passenger door
