Hi, I have an E30 M10 318i prefacelift
What's the best way to remove the cross member at the back of the transmission?
The bolts just keep spinning, tried just taking mounts off hoping to manouvre it out but no luck the crossmember is in the way.

The bolts that are spinning are square headed ones that are slid into a slot in a rail each side.
Sounds like the rail has been stretched by over tightened or seized nuts, so now the heads of the bolts are able to turn.
You'll need to cut the nuts off, slide the remains of the bolts along and out of the rails, then see if the rail can be hammered back into shape.

I've cut them out. Can't find the part number for the square headed bolts on realoem or 7zap. The transmission mount bracket looks slightly different on the diagram. Any idea what the part number is or how to go about getting replacements?

I've attached 2 images, got or had an oil leak. Any ideas what would cause the bell housing to be caked in oil? (Rear main seal just replaced before taking the pic) but leak looks like it may be from below distributor? Would that cause oil to get into the bellhousing? And so much of it at that.

Perfectly normal inside of bell housing. A lot of that gunge used to be your clutch disc lining.
