Just took this out of my old rad and was putting it in my new one when I went all ham trying to force it through and broke it!

Not 100% necessary for running the vehicle however you’ll have the annoying coolant light on above your head And you won’t ever know if your running low. Get a new one only few bob

Ah just seen you’ve said it’s for an E36 aircon rad. Either way it’s a level sensor but likely not usable if you’ve done a conversion

I'll have a look for the connector as I didn't have to disconnect it when taking it off, may be redundant. Didn't want to leave it to chance and have to waste coolant.

you will need it fitted as it's part of a pressured system.

It's a four pot shell. Won't be any wiring for it, or a check panel for it to control.
The replacement E36 rads I've fitted have the hole for this blanked off as standard. Has to be drilled out to fit the sensor, if required.

That's what you get for messing with standard. I thought you had a header tank like a normal E30 .

It was originally a 320i so might be worth doing

316i se 1991 when OP ordered bits from Cotswold. He may have more than one E30, of course.
If it is a six pot shell, the wiring will need to be extended to reach the sensor on an E36 rad, and although the sensor looks the same as an E30 one, it is different. E30 sensor will turn the LED on when the level is correct and off when the level is low.

Correct I've a 316 se.

Inot been out to the car for a couple days now but as mentioned earlier there isn't a check panel on mine so should be oright with the blanking plug?

As My luck would have it the rad I've ordered turned up damaged...

Must be getting confused with another car that was 320iSE. Is that the calypso red one?

I thought all SE's were 6-cyl and 4-cyl were lux?
