Need help finding the right tyre size for 16" bbs's.
E36 M3 Evo front setup and 318ti rear.
I've test fitted them and they clear the brakes and strut on the fronts with a little poke, might be a pointless exercise but won't know until I've got a tyre on a wheel to check.
Any one done this before or ideas on tyre sizes? May have to buy a used tyre to test fitment properly.
Currently got 17x8 et35 215/40 all round with very slight stretch.
Cheers

I've got 205/50/16 Front & 225/45/16 Rear, I think - which I believe were the sizes stated by Alpina for 16" wheels.
Obviously a different set up though... I'm running H&R coilover suspension, slightly lowered, with the 16" Schnitzer rims!

They're 16x8's
I did want a wider tyre than 205 seem too much of a stretch.

At 8" then 225/45 is what you want but there isn't much choice in that size.
RS version of the AD08R is now european-compliant but by all accounts now a crap tyre
None of the others float my boat ether really

Was looking at Rainsport 5's but from what I've seen 225/45 only come in 17's.

In no particular order I could find these in that size
Yokohama Advan A052
Nexen N'Fera SU1
Nankang NS 20
Hankook Ventus Prime2
Nankang NS-2R
Toyo Proxes R888R
Nexen N'Fera Primus
Nankang AR-1
Yokohama Advan Neova AD08RS
Toyo Proxes TR1
Marshal KH 35
None of which I fancy putting on the back of an Alpina I actually want to drive, not on a track and sometimes in the wet.

I am using 225/45R16 Yoko A048s (2-3 years old) on Sport Evo 16x7.5 rims and I'm pretty happy with them. Slight rubbing on full lock (even with M3 rack limiters) and the rears used to scrap the inner skin of the outer arch before I got them fixed. They were rolled already when I got em so can't say if they would hit the lip but it's likely.

Thanks for the list!
I don't fancy any of those either, I've got TR1's on the E30 now, good in the dry but Shyte in the cold or wet almost dangerous!
Oddly you can get 235/50/16 in Rainsport 5

Can't get 048s anymore, replaced by the 052. How do you find them in the cold and wet (usual UK shite weather)?JungleGus wrote: ↑Thu Jul 23, 2020 1:44 pmI am using 225/45R16 Yoko A048s (2-3 years old) on Sport Evo 16x7.5 rims and I'm pretty happy with them. Did not want trackday tyres on the old chromie as I have had bad experiences with them in the past but that was loooong time ago. Would have tried the AD08 but not now.
That is my experience of most trackday tyres

They seem fine, I can't really fault them at all. Haven't tried out the 052...maybe I should stop melting them on the track...

It is when I see things like this that I have second thoughts about using track tyres for regular driving on the road.
For me they won't be daily drivers but I don't want to be thinking I don't want to go if it is cold or wet

Honestly - I don't see any issue with them in the wet. It's a bit hard to tell as most 325i's and up will have traction issues in the wet in 1st and 2nd if you floor it and don't know how to handle the E30's limits. I drive in all weather and have never seen an issue. If you're running <230hp and you're in a 225 wide tyre I struggle to see how you'd have an issue in any weather
My Toyo Proxes 205/55R15's on the other hand are pretty loose with any additional power over standard
