Hi, has anyone have their rev counter reading 750 with ignition off? When the ignition is on it returns to zero and is fine with normal running. 325i cabby 1990. Thanks in advance.

Yes, it's a characteristic fault that sometimes occurs with the later type of SI board. No idea what the problem is at component level.

Thanks Brian. I can live with that. Good to know there's nothing serious lurking.

Might be worth checking how much life is left in the SI board batteries - I don't think I've ever specifically checked them on a cluster displaying this fault.
They are 3 volt each, and are non rechargeable, so as more and more E30s spend the winter months in hibernation with the battery disconnected, flat SI batteries are going to become common.

I changed the batteries about a year ago and use the car all year round. So I'm pretty confident they're OK.
