Trying to find a sunroof that's not full of rust like mine. Any colour doesn't matter, anything will be appreciated. Cheers

The prices that are being asked for used and dubious sunroof panels these days. you are better buying new.

Not much more money and a guaranteed rust-free for a few years to come.

Ok I didn't even know they still made them so I only need part 1 (plus the seals 2,3,4) or am I likely to need the other parts aswell

First of all you need EITHER number 2 OR numbers 3&4 they are either 1-piece or 2-piece version of the same thing.

Secondly they are not 'seals' in the usual sense they are not there to stop water coming in, it is meant to and drain through the sunroof drain holes.

If yours are in reasonable condition and can be cleaned up they should be good to go. :thumb:

Ahh that make sense, mine have about had it, perishing quite badly, so I may as well order them at the same time. I'll go for the 2-peice as that's what mine has on it now. Cheers for all the help

The rear sliding gutter, # 12, is the other part in the diagram that suffers from corrosion. Needs to be intact, otherwise water will drip on your head when it rains.
Turn your replacement panel upside down and fill it with hot cavity wax, before draining and fitting.

Personally I would get the 1-piece if you are getting a new panel as it is 2 less joints to get crap in. I believe the 2-piece was done to make it easier to fit when the roof is in the car.

2-piece on my car is being replaced by a new one piece to go with the new panel. The other one has still got its one piece from new.

What he said :D Makes absolute sense to fit the one piece seal and minimise any gaps etc.

I've owned about 30 E30s, and every one of them that has had a sunroof has had a two piece sunroof seal. I've never seen a one piece seal, and my memory (and ownership) goes back to when they were still in production, so I'm fairly sure two piece is OE.

I don't know what the current prices are, but there used to be a considerable difference between the price of the one piece and the sum of the two parts of the two piece. Certainly enough difference to justify five minutes with a junior hacksaw if you insist on the OE detail.

That's interesting as my ’84 323 chromie has a single-piece and I know that has not been touched from new

My ’87 FL 325 also had a single piece but cannot say it was not changed although the sunroof did not look like it had been messed with.

I was surprised to see my latest 325 had a 2-piece and it was worse for wear around the join.

Only about £20 in it (1-piece cheaper) but that is not the reason I would use a 1-piece, I can live with the 325 being non-OE if that is the case as it will have an M54B30 in it anyway :thumb:
