Hi Everyone
I'm new to the forum, and the proud owner of my second E30. My journey so far...
In my mid-20s I owned a black 320i coupe with a manual box which I enhanced with a set of 15" BBS cross-spoke wheels and PI lowering springs. I loved that car, but sadly, a year later in order to pay for university fees I had to let her go. What followed was a period of new cars (and one E91 330d M Sport touring which was exceptional). Anyway, 20 years later the memory of my first E30 (which never left me!) encouraged me to pick my second one last December (2019) and I have been smitten ever since!
The new girl is a mild mannered 318i cab on a 1991 J plate with 88k on the clock in calypso red. All original with mint sports cloth seats, spotless interior and an electric folding roof, and from the service history that I have (invoices for independent service and work which, when added together make up the mileage history), it appears that she stood still SORN for around 10 years. She's not perfect (85% mint), but just on the right side of a project car that I feel I can invest a small amount of money in to restore. She idles rough on start, has a small rust scab near the sill, body work needs a light blow over and the usual mechanical issues such as steering and ball joints need an overhaul...all manageable (I think), and gives me (someone with no DIY experience) a chance to learn and explore an old school mechanical car! I love the originality of the car, and do agree that whilst the M40 engine won't set the pulse racing, it does however feel really robust.
Part of the journey for me has been in buying up OEM parts. The plan is to sensibly restore her over the next few months and enjoy her during the summer. Ideally, I'd like to trade up to a 325i sport at some stage,
Once free from COVID - I'm based in Epsom Surrey if any folk nearby are planning any meets?
Many thanks!

Sounds like a nice start!
As a fellow cabby owner (320i) it's not about how fast you go but how good you look going past.
We need pics to see this beauty.
