hey kids.

About 15 years ago I bought a 15 button OBC and retrofitted it to the car. It's a chrome bumper 1989 convertible. Everything fitted perfectly, but as it was a pain to get to, I didn't bother fitting the temp sensor.
It does go in the LHS lower front spoiler, where there's a hole, yes?
So as I have some time on my hands, I've taken the front inner-wings and front undertray out, cleaning and so on, so I have easy access.

Anyway, questions...
1) a) for a 1989 chrome 325, where does the feed for the external temp sensor come from on the loom?
Or should it be on the loom-section that I fitted 15 years ago?

b) is this the correct sensor for this car, as it doesn't clip into the hole as I expected.

2) Again 15 years ago, I found another OBC and loom, and bought it, planning on buying a Touring at some point - I never did. So I have another full loom and kit, but this has a different temp sensor in a duct - what specific model is this for please?

Thanks!

The top picture is the correct sensor and the lower picture showing a sensor in the brake duct is where it is supposed to mount.

Temp sensor on an early car points horizontally through a hole in the lower front valance. IIRC, it's a different sensor, with the probe part being considerably greater diameter, with a domed end.

Edit: Just seen the second pic. That looks like it might be the early sensor, pushed into a brake duct, where the sensor in the first pic should be.
Both sensor types are electrically identical.

The temp. sender ( along with the OBC horn) is connected to an extra loom a few feet long, that goes from behind the glovebox, thru the main grommet next to the brake-servo, into the engine-bay and follows the wiring thats already there forward to behind the n/s headlamp, where it drops down into the cavity where temp. sender and OBC horn live.
It's sometimes missing from otherwise complete OBC kits.

Thanks both.

How many horns are there for an early car?

Mine seems to have three (I'll go and have another look to make sure)

Sounds right- 2 of them will be the normal horns that lots of cars have, slung underneath each chassis-leg.
Third should be a round mid/high-tone, behind n/s indicator, maybe with a metal cover round it.

yes exactly that - you know your horns :)

So what does the OBC horn look like? And what is it used for? I have the gong.

OBC horn looks like the normal one on a single horn car, as is used as the theft alarm sounder for the OBC.
