It is possible to order them new correctly valved but you have to order them through a Bilstein Dealer No dealer I have spoken to has much of a clue, they are just interested in shifting boxes. I may just buy them the cheapest place I can and send them back to Bilstein for modification.

Get what is possible by talking to Bilstein technical first. You need to get past the first 'receptionist' you talk to one of the back office technical blokes

Are you looking at this for the M52? For my M54 I was looking at 3.0 Z3 settings.

Good idea - may try getting in touch with Bilstein direct.

I've ordered some Turner J Stocks from Turner MS in the US, a friend has on his race car...they may be too low/stiff for the road but I've been wanting to give them a go for years, and figured E30 M3 springs on mine are way too soft. The J stock springs are around 2x as stiff as H&R Race springs from what I can tell. I have bought the matching Front Shocks but the Rear Shocks are NLA (they were an upside down shock and custom valved) - so thinking I'll give my existing Bilstein's a go but should really have something valved to match at some point.

So - Bilstein USA will do the re-valve (shut currently due to CV19) but they have a form you fill out and send your shocks to - nice and easy.

So now - any idea how I would go about getting a set that is the upside down version of the B8?

I've not gone into it that far TBH. I'm going to be using standard Bilstein B12 on the chromie but for the FL I'm still undecided.

If I can't get something sensible with normal springs and shocks I will just put coilovers on and have all the adjustability I need to set it where I want.

I am a huge fan of KW (would be even more if it wasn't for the stupid colour) as I have the V3 on another machine of mine and they are well made and technically very advanced and my experience with them on the car has been nothing but good.

I have had much better conversations with KW and options put forward than I have ever had with Bilstein.

So it appears the easier way to do this according to S14.Net (https://s14net.vbulletin.net/forum/s14/ ... ack/page14) is to get the Bilstein Motorsport shock...and it's UK only which is handy.

Although someone has also pointed out there is a M3 bolt on coil over which saves you hacking up the struts...from KW.
