Heater blowing only cold air!

Hi,

It must be what Brian said earlier! The heater matrix is either damage or the electric heater valve must be closed. We bled the car for 3.5hrs (Engine running) with the front end up in the air. The thermostatic valve opened and we got all air out. As well as flushing the matrix again for good measure with a hose connected to the lower stubb! Water flowed very slowly out the top stubb but it was clean water! The pipes to top and bottom stubb was very hot! When you put the fan on to nr 4 you get heat for one second then the air is cold! This is telling me that flow of water through the matrix is not happening! So I am going to remove the console and check wiring! If nothing is wrong then heater matrix maybe changed!

Heater valve arrived today to fix the issue of no heat in the car! Fairly changed valve from the old one!

The connection block/plug on the side looks like an industry standard arrangement, just like that on assorted pneumatic and hydraulic valves I have used in the past in the course of my work.
I wonder if that means the part we need to replace is a standard actuator, available from the likes of RS Components or Farnell, etc., for a few pounds?

If you can find the part number for the valve/actuator, i guess so.

BMW sells it as a unit for a crazy €210 here.

All sorted with new heater valve. Bleed the car no problems as well. The heater valve electrical point had to be move round to fit under the dash! Finger tight only as well.

While I'm on this photo, the white fastner point to hold the inside of the glove box panel has a type of plug missing. Does anyone know what it is. The other side panel has this fitting missing to keep the plastic side panels in place! Otherwise they move about! Cable tying should not be the solution !

Great As they are the same as the fastners that cover the rear of the headlights!
