Hello,
Can anyone tell me if it's possible to change the diff mount bush with the differential still in the car without undoing the driveshafts???
The driveshaft bolts look very rusty and I don't feel like having to fight to undo them and also do not have a hex attachment to put into my torque wrench to do them back up tight enough. My thinking is that if I remove the rear casing of the diff then I would be able to do the change out of the car but i don't have a new gasket or any gasket paste stuff to put back on.
The rear of the car is currently up in the air and I hoping to get it done today!!
Many thanks in advance!! First time e30 owner...
And also the best way to remove the old bushing with standard home tools ie no air compressor or hydraulic press.

Biggest danger with trying to do it on the car is the considerable possibility of breaking the cover when you get physical with it. I'd recommend cutting the old bush out rather than attempting to push it.

Thanks for your reply. Been getting a lot of feedback from the facebook forum and my plan of action now is to remove the rear case from the diff and to do it that way.Brianmoooore wrote: ↑Fri Apr 03, 2020 2:24 pmBiggest danger with trying to do it on the car is the considerable possibility of breaking the cover when you get physical with it. Now my question is what's the best gasket maker/ those gasket in a tube things to use?

If you remove the cover carefully and make sure you don't tear the existing gasket, it can be reused as long as you put it back exactly as it was. Failing that, use a very thin bead of silicon rubber type instant gasket. If it squelches out when you tighten the bolts, you used too much.
