The driver's side under dash trim panel is missing from my car. This is the panel where I've seen a headlight beam adjuster on other E30s. Did all models come with this adjuster switch? I'm particularly interested because there's a red wire under my dash which isn't connected to anything.

Adjustable headlamp aim was an option specified on a significant minority of E30s.
The only electrical wiring associated with it will be an unused two pin plug with grey/red and brown wires for the knob illumination.
Spare plain red wires are usually something to do with dubious ICE installations.

Thanks.
I've had the radio head unit out today. It's the original BMW unit, but the wiring behind it is a mess. I think this car has been torn apart at some point in its life and then somewhat restored to original spec. Nothing quite makes sense.
