Ohh...where to start! Fuel pump/relay, dizzy cap, rotor, plugs, leads etc, and they are just the simple things....what service history have you got, i.e. what has been changed..anything been replaced recently?

Got the car about a year ago, not a great deal of service history, though obviously looked after etc. ThereÔš's a receipt for top end work and new head gasket about 6k before I got it. When I got it (about 4k ago, (I do low mileage)), I had it serviced, new plugs not leads though. I replaced the dissy cap and rotor arm. The fuel pump failed about 9 months ago and was replaced with a new one. So relay and plug leads maybe to start?

Fuel filter's in front of the left rear wheel under the car on a 6 pot.
Don't waste money on plug leads - Never seen a dud one.

Cheers... fuel filter is favourite at the mo, it's so random... when it's hot, when it's cold... usually not sputtering just after braking fairly heavily...Brianmoooore wrote:Fuel filter's in front of the left rear wheel under the car on a 6 pot.

do I have to drain the tank or anything?, is it an inline filter that I can remove and plug the pipe whilst changing it?

With the car running, pull fuse number 11 until the engine dies, turn it over briefly to make sure the fuel is out of the system, remove fuel cap, and remove filter, you will still get some fuel spillage, but not a lot, and the system won't be under pressure.

My fuel filter's on the passenger side wing!
I'm guessing they're just in front of the rear wheel if there ain't a fuel pump there?

You may be right that on early cars with the fuel pump in front of the left rear wheel, there won't be room for a filter there as well.
