The evolution of ‘Errol’ the 325i Cabriolet
Moderator: martauto
More bumper bits collected from beemer today.
Guna get to work on the stereo/aerial bits this weekend or possibly the bumpers so watch this space for a weekend update

Coming along nicely.
Having the front bumper re-chromed was one of the best things on my car.

Good to see another E30 getting the good treatment with lots of attention to detail.
Thanks for the advice! I need to focus my funds on things that are going to get it on the road first. But I will bear that in mind for sure!Tzantushka wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2020 9:07 amComing along nicely.

The rear bumper will be brand new. All the chrome, brackets, rubbers and fittings are new and waiting to go on.

Had an absolute mare trying to replace the windscreen locking strip today.... took us about two hours to get it in for it to be too short!
Note: measure before fitting! don’t assume bmw will send you a length that needs trimming!!
Will try again today after soaking it in hot water to make it more mailable!
I did manage to replace the clips on the side trims and get them refitting after adding some spray wax for protection.
And introduce my dog to his new ride

There's a not too expensive special tool for that. Well worth buying, since one slip the wrong way, when doing it the hard way, will easily result in a deep gouge in the paintwork.
Interesting that your locking strip was too short. Any possibility you had a rear screen strip? They have to be compressed all the time while you're fitting them, otherwise they'll slowly creep back over time, leaving a gap at the join.
More successful day today
Windscreen in (just waiting on joining strip from beemer!)
New aerial fitted and fuel filler gator replaced too!
Out with the old!! In with the new!

Still an arse of a job!!
Defo the right part number. Apparently you’re supposed to soak them in hot water before fitting. All sorted now

That is one mint cab and a great colour, but one small thing and it’s small, those tail pipes need some attention but I’m being seriously fuzzy.Your car is an absolute peach.

That is awesome!
Very very nice .
You've motivated me to get my rear bumper fixed.
With the mudflaps - where did you get those?
Having difficulty finding a set of convertible mudflaps myself.

Not quite what I planned to get done this weekend thanks to a VERY complicated loom (which I know think suggests my car left the factory with a fader, that it no longer has!?)
but good progress none the less....
Failing horse shoe gas struts replaced. Sill trims and rear quarters cleaned up and refitted. With the new rear speakers installed and tested. I also removed the instrument cluster to replace the back up battery later this week.
not a bad day!

Still at least it’s not black, and a good quality battery I can rely on aye?!

£220 and they changed the battery, resoldered everything and changed a couple of small components that had rusted up in the circuit board.
I sent it to them as the Rev counter wasn’t working and I’d diagnosed that as the battery giving up.
