I have found this chip on ebay
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/223872738501 ... fresh=true
I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with this product at all?
If not, how can I get hold of a true MarkD / Jim Conforti chip, and will it be compatible with high lift cams? I'm currently building a fast road / track M42 engine.
Cheers,
Ted

Be wary of such a generic chip, since the 318is has three different firmware versions, for Europe, America and the rest of the world. If you get a chip with the wrong firmware version, the engine will either not start at all, or will run like a pig. They are notoriously tricky to chip, so buying that one would be a gamble on whether it works!
You really need to open up your ECU and find out the chip number (stamped on a silver label on the chip), in order to obtain the correct firmware version for your engine.

Thank you for your speedy response! I'll do that - I note from your signature that you seem to do chips, is this something you would be able to assist with?Speedtouch wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2020 11:01 amBe wary of such a generic chip, since the 318is has three different firmware versions, for Europe, America and the rest of the world.
