Hey guys,
Has anyone ever used/bought the little springy valve clearance tool? For applying the correct pressure on the eccentrics. Can only find it in America and wondering if it really does make doing valves x10 faster.
Cheers

It's the kind of tool that if you need it, you shouldn't be doing the job. Most of the time is spent turning the crank and cam to the correct positions - the actual adjustment is the easy part.

It’s fiddley, so I think it’s more a time/ease of use thing rather then competence or need. I’m sure bmw used them to speed things up. Also was wondering if it would help with maintaining the right pressure whilst tightening the eccentric nut back upBrianmoooore wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2020 10:59 amIt's the kind of tool that if you need it, you shouldn't be doing the job. It does help a lot - it's easy to apply too much pressure to the eccentric, sometimes they "stick" and make it tricky to set the right gap - using the tool makes sure you have the same pressure on the eccentrics of all the valves - I couldn't find one so made my own, and it does make the job easier -

I will also buy one! Or if you could share what spring rate you used? Nice one!

the tool is good and worth it as it stops the adjustment going out when the nut is nipped up tight. after doing it for years without i wouldnt do the job without it these days
