Any bmw techs/ one series guys?

evening all,

bought a cheap 1 series, with a gearbox fault, thought id do an oil and filter change but the filter kit is the same price as a 2nd hand box!

Basically theres a trans fault up on the idrive code P320D manufacturer specific so no real info...

when it goes in D or R it bunny hops and jerks then once driving its ok? but obv in limp mode doesnt change up,

was planning on changing filter and oil, i drained oil earlier today and it smelt burnt, no swarf or anything, but wondering if its worth doing the filter change or no?
