The small hose that leads from the ICV terminates in an elbow that fits into the throttle body, should there be any sort of washer or O ring where it fits in? It looks as though it has the remnants of something there. One "how to" video on YouTube recommends using wood glue there, that sounds wrong!

And should the hose have clips on it, no sign of any on my car?

I've never seen any clips on a car but they are listed as parts - so I added some!

the only "clips" i've seen there are the ones holding the ICV in the hoses,
if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.

Yes, that is what I have not got, the hoses are just pushed on, but some YouTube videos show clips being loosened to remove the ICV, and I would normally expect hoses to be secured by clips.
What about my original query about the metal elbow fitting into the throttle body? My instinct is to use some plumbing compound on it, Boss White or a modern equivalent.

as for you original query, on mine it is simply an "interference" fit, just pushes in.
