Hey guys,
Last week, i started the car with the driver's side door open, then as the engine fired up, all locks went haywire. System was locking and unlocking everything continuously without end, and only when i shut the door did it stop.
From the driver's side and the trunk, the key made no difference with the system. Meaning only that driver's side door would unlock (but not lock) and the trunk would lock/unlock individually (would not trigger the system).
Inside the car, with the engine running, if i lock/unlock the driver's side door (by pressing the pin down or up) the system may lock/unlock a few times before either locking or unlocking all doors at random.
Now, nothing work, as if the car does not have a CL system. I removed the modul in the speaker, the fuse is not blown and i could not find any burned marks or bad signs on the board.
I removed the driver's side door panel, remove the white/red actuator and all i can say is that it looks find.
So i ask, what can i test and pin point where the problem is? i found online threads about microswitches, actuators, door lock interior light dimmer relay and such. Just want to know, what and how to test each specific component, before just throwing money at it.
Thank you
Central locking went mad, then stopped working

There's a section on central locking in this: http://bimmertips.com/wp-content/upload ... e30_88.pdf

Wow, that is pretty much what i was looking for, testing individual components. The Bentley manual does not cover this (just how to replace and adjust the switches).
I shall dig deeper into it and probably start testing tomorrow or on the weekend, really appreciate this!

Here's a circuit diagram for the central locking which is easier to follow than the BMW ones: http://www.autolib.diakom.ru/CAR/BMW/19 ... /fig10.pdf
No idea as yet as to what's behind your problems, but what happened initially is what would happen if the ECU was receiving a continuous lock signal. When things are working as they should, if the doors are locked with the driver's door open, they should unlock again after about half a second.
If you can follow circuit diagrams, you'll see that you can test the actuators by connecting two short wire links across pins of the Ecu's socket with the Ecu unplugged. Don't leave the actuators connected to power for more than a second or so, or they will burn out
Similarly, you can test the unlock and lock requests from the key, etc. at the plug with a resistance or continuity meter.

Thank you Brian, more print outs for me to follow.
One note, i noticed just a few moments ago, the interior dome light will not come on when the driver's side door is opened, but the center console window switches light up.
Every other door, when opened, triggers the dome light, including the trunk (well, the trunk light comes on). Does this help narrow things down a bit?

Dome light will be a problem with the pin switch in the lower A pillar. Take it out and check for a sliver of plastic that has formed between the two contact surfaces and remove it with a craft knife.
Lights in the window switches are fed by the same supply as the window motors.
Both are nothing to do with the central locking. No integration of systems in an E30, unlike modern cars where it can make fault finding a nightmare, like the Merc. I was involved with a few years ago, where the reason the engine wouldn't rev. turned out to be a faulty brake light!!!
