Good afternoon, I wonder if anyone knows what causes the bonnet to "pop" open when pulling on the lever , my opens ok but without the satisfying movement forward ,or was it all a dream

Unless I've got it wrong I'm sure it is the same gas strut that holds it up, but if the strut didn't have the pressure to shove the bonet forward, I would doubt it would hold it up. Does it hold up OK when open?

Clean and lubricate the hinge and the latch plates.

Yes its a new strut which works as it should , that is at holding the bonnet up.
