Right, back on the subject of springs. As you can imagine mtech springs for a touring (specifically rear) are a bit scarce. Iv been told/advised that convertible mtech springs will do the trick, is this correct?, any thoughts?

Convertible and touring both heavier than the saloon so that’s why suspension can be used between them.
The below is copied from the E30 zone wiki.
Sturdier components were fitted to the six-cylinder models (M20 and M21 engines), incorporating sturdier springs to carry the heavier weights. Bigger struts were fitted to all Touring and Cabriolet models, as well as different rear springs to carry the heavier bodies of those cars. Upgraded suspension was also part of the sports package.
