Hi
I'm keen on a 1986 318i on sale at the moment on eBay - D98 RCW. I've not had any experience with the M10 so just wanted to know what is good/bad about the M10.
Thanks

Solid engine, does feel a bit underpowered but it’s a cruiser. If you are you happy just going around at a gentle pace go for it!
I had some issues with cooling and bleeding the system (no bleed valve) so if you do check it out, check the hot air works, the thermostat is opening, fan clutch working. And watch the temp needle.
Then again maybe I’m just scarred

Thanks for that! Anything is good to know for me as I have no experience with the M10 and the car is a four hour drive away!BristolE30 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2019 11:05 amSolid engine, does feel a bit underpowered but it’s a cruiser. If you are you happy just going around at a gentle pace go for it!

i've never had an M10 engined e30 but i do know there's a hell of a lot can be done to them,
depending on what you want to do to it/get from it you can build a 2.1 lump on carbs (think of the ford pinto engine) & have a proper little screamer,
have a look on fritz bitz website there's quite a bit on there about them,
but as above, if well looked after they are a good solid engine.

if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.

Thanks, Steve_k. I've read about them being very tuneable, at a cost of course but may be something I do long term. A lot on that website thst is sooo tempting!
