... just got the car back from storage in the drive to find one of the fogs wasn’t working. Anyway, got under the front and fixed it and noticed this. Looks like bad rust but I’m not sure what that part is- fingers crossed it’s not holding the wheel on lol. The other side is on similar condition.
What do i do?!?
How much should I be worried about this?

That’s at a really bad orientation! Its the part right behind where the brake disc will be.

It looks to me like all that remains of the protection plate which should cover the whole of the rear of the disc.

Oh okay, thx for identifying what it could be. I’ll try and find the part number and get four ordered up because no doubt they are all like it! Spotted it just as I thought I had sorted all the rust- typical!

As far as I recall to change these you need to remove the hubs, as the hole in the backing plate is smaller than the hub. If you're going to do that you might as well change the wheel bearings while you're in there. It may be possible to cut/butcher the new backing plates to fit, but it seems a shame to do this to new parts that are going on.

Ahh bugger. In that case ill probably try and get the hubs off because it would be a shame to have to bodge yet another thing onto an already bodged car as I’m slowly finding out! Ill try and do the bearing as they probably need doing- bit of an amateur at all this so will probably will take till winter to this lolclarko74 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2019 1:51 pmAs far as I recall to change these you need to remove the hubs, as the hole in the backing plate is smaller than the hub. One of my dust plates rotted off the other year on the front of my 320.
CBA to go through the faff for a daily and so it continues to work very well without it. The other side is still there at the moment.
