Looks like a 323i if I’m not mistaken. Looks very Jetronic to me

I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong but it is an "anti-cavitation device' fitted when fuel was not so good. BMW now just make a double ended straight through pipe for it.

From memory (20 years ago 8O ) there are two of them and you can just take them out
