I broke down the other day and had to be rescued by the goood old A,A
CAR STARTED MISSING badly on the Mway, then just died and would not start,
following investigation. I had a very good spark from the king lead of dizzy .
but weaker sometimes no spark at the plugs . The rotor was knackered, apparently breaking down through the baker light material. which over time can lose its non conductibility,
and when I you looked very carefully, could see crack in side and a black burn mark on the underside of the rotor, not visible until removed ,
I guess the spark was earthing to the nearest 3 mm allan screw that its attached by,,
it appeared the dizzy cap was new , but the rotor had not been changed . by the looks of it
got a new one from ECP , and started immediately.
so just thought I,d share that with you guys , might helpsomeone.
next time i clean inside my dizzy cap gonna remove the rotor and check it for cracks or black marks. or replace it .

i had the same kind of problem on mine a few years ago, i little hairline crack, & it was arcing across it self.

safe to say i keep a spare in the tool box in case it goes again.
if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.

i've found the easiest way is to lean over from the passenger side & remove the two top hoses, gives a bit more room,

Rotor arms have been tracking over since the day they were invented. It's a service item, and if replaced when it begins to deteriorate, will be most unlikely to fail in service.

o.k noted and thanks for the reply . wonder what the recommended service interval is .

and the only reason I posted this is because I thought it migh help someone else .

I had this problem i,ve been chasing for years now and hooray finally got it. my occasion MIS FIRE has gone.

I did not need to check the fuel pressure , injectors.
The reading from A.F.M . throttle body set screw, Switch from TPS .
Compression test .
Timing, belt tension .
CPS sensor ,
plugs , leads . dizzy
however I learn one hell of a lot about how my car works . and enjoyed every minute
proves it's the simple things and basic items that can cause huge issues if not working right. my next step WAS going to remove the ? lol
